Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is CDI changing the iCell products that I have been receiving over the last several years?
    • There is no change to the products’ production or performance. The changes are only to their catalog numbers and, in some instances, names.
  • When will these changes go into effect?
    • Starting September 1, 2017, you will need to use the new catalog numbers when ordering products.
  • What is the meaning of the 5-digit number in the new product name for a cell type?
    • The 5-digit number is a randomized number that was assigned to the donor.
  • How do I chose what donor background to purchase?
    • The 01434 donor was the original donor used to make several iCell products, and CDI has been expanding our backgrounds to include additional donors, such as 01279.  Contact Technical Support for more information.
  • What new unit sizes are CDI offering?
    • CDI is introducing a unit size of ≥1 million viable cells per vial for several cell products. Contact Customer Support for availability.
  • Can I still purchase 0.5X and 5X unit sizes?
  • Will the new product names and catalog numbers be on all products I order and receive?
    • Not necessarily. CDI has inventory of product labeled with the former name and catalog number that will be shipped until we are out of stock.
  • Can I order the cells by themselves?
    • All CDI’s cell products will be delivered as part of kits that contain the cryopreserved cells, any media supplied with the cell type (if applicable), and a User’s Guide.
  • Can I still order media separately?
