Webinars

Using Stem Cells to Model Disease (Sep 19 | 12:00 pm EDT | Free). Dr. Lawrence Goldstein (University of California-San Diego School of Medicine), Kristen Brennand (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai), and Lorenz Studer (Sloan-Kettering Center for Stem Cell Biology) will discuss how they approach modeling Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, and neurodegenerative disorders using patient-derived iPSCs and how these approaches could be applicable to modeling complex diseases.

Recording>>

The Value of Phenotypic-based Drug Discovery (Sep 26 | 11:30 am EDT | Free to SLAS members). Dr. David Swinney (Institute for Rare and Neglected Diseases Drug Discovery) will discuss challenges and solutions to assimilating molecular and phenotypic approaches to increase drug discovery success.

Recording>>

Using Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells as a Predictive Model for Neurodegenerative Disease (Originally broadcast on Aug 27 | Available to watch on demand | Free). Maureen Sherry Lynes (Harvard Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology) reveals how she used iPSCs as a drug discovery tool for spinal muscular atrophy. Susan DeLaura (CDI) describes how to interrogate neurodegenerative disease processes using iCell Neurons in combination with cutting-edge platforms, such as high content imaging, label-free analysis, and Alpha technologies.

Aberrant Virion Assembly and Limited gC Production in Varicella Zoster Virus Infected Neurons. Researchers used an iCell Neurons in vitro model of varicella zoster virus infection to determine whether diminished production of virion components and/or final assembly of complete virions play a role in limiting productive virus infection.
