Our Application Protocol provides recipes for intracellular and extracellular saline solutions that are compatible with iCell® Cardiomyocytes. Tyrode’s balanced salt solution, which usually uses glucose as the energy source and a buffer containing bicarbonate and phosphate to maintain pH, provides the standard osmotic pressure necessary for recording. Ma et al. (2011) included more details about saline solutions for individual ion channels. Note that all electrophysiology recording solutions should be filter sterilized.
