Each iCell® GABANeurons Kit has >90% purity, as measured by flow cytometry for βIII-tubulin (+) and nestin (-) markers. The mixed population is comprised of approximately 70% GABAergic (inhibitory) and 30% glutamatergic (excitatory) neurons, based on biochemical and electrophysiological data. iCell DopaNeurons are more excitatory, so the balance is shifted towards more glutamatergic populations. Within this population is a sub-fraction of cholinergic receptors, such as the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), as characterized by Chatzidaki et al. (2015) and Gill et al. (2013).
