We guarantee survival of iCell® GABANeurons for 2 weeks in culture, but the cells remain viable longer and have been assayed at 5 – 6 weeks post-plating. iCell GABANeurons require some time to recover from thawing and plating steps. Typically, most assays with iCell GABANeurons are performed 7 – 21 days post-plating. However, iCell GABANeurons have been kept in culture for several months (3 – 4) by performing regular, partial medium changes every 3 – 4 days; typically, every Monday and Friday. The cells should remain viable, and the network will continue to develop over time; however, no functional evaluation has been performed on cells kept in culture for these extended periods. It is expected that cultures can be maintained beyond this point with routine medium changes.
These cells are terminally differentiated, cannot be passaged, and do not proliferate.
